Yes, it’s true, I am venturing into the amazing and frankly scary world of podcasting!

I cannot stress enough that this is not going to rock your world. I am one (relatively) shy and inarticulate woman wrestling unsuccessfully with a microphone and some crappy animation.

Having said that, please feel free to tell me what I can do better, and even whether there is any actual potential in this!

My services are available for hire. I offer:

  • Simplification — copy editing, design and podcast services for web, print and communications
  • Visualisation — video, interactive and graphic representations
  • Consultancy — advice and methods for making your web, print and communications projects more effective, user-friendly and user-focused.

I am also available as a speaker on simplification and information design issues.

My rates depend on the job and are always negotiable, however here is a basic guide:

  • Simplifying text only — £35 / hr — one hour represents 4 A4 pages of text.
  • Designing brochures / posters / leaflets / visualisations / infographics: £200 flat rate
  • Podcast: £120
  • Consultancy: negotiable
Case study
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS)
The way credit card providers deal with their customers was up for review, and BIS wanted ordinary consumers to be involved in the consultation process. I helped them simplify the consultation, and when the consultation was over I helped them communicate the results of the consultation and explain exactly what the new laws about credit cards would be.

Reviews

The work Corinne did for our consultation on credit cards was remarkable, creative and beautifully-presented. On a very short timescale, she turned a 100-page document into 10 crisp, readable pages bringing credit card policy to life for everyday consumers. The accompanying podcast summary she arranged was magnificent: clear, straightforward and engaging.” October 28, 2009

Corinne is an excellent copywriter who condensed a long-winded dry and complex consultation document into a friendly, easy to understand concise two pager which she styled beautifully. She then recorded a great podcast explaining the issues, in this case the compexities of credit card agreements. That piece of work produced fantastic results and became one of our most popular consultations ever. Corinne also worked incredibly quickly — a serious plus when dealing with government, as was tremendously good value. Would definitely hire her again. Impressive.” April 27, 2011

I said in my last post that I’d been challenged to squish my latest consultation translation into 60 seconds, and here it is.

As you’ll know from my previous podcast on carrier bag charges in Wales, I’m not the most confident speaker, but I think this one works much better than the last one.

Got to work on my monotone, but I’m going to keep calling it deadpan until I get rid of it…

59 seconds, too. Always have to go one better!
